President Ramaphosa will be speaking tonight, here are things to expect..

The coronavirus continues to claim more lives, leaving many more in Intensive Care Units, battling for survival and the economy in a fumbling position. Last week alone, the country experienced approximately 100 000 new Covid-19 cases. An alarming 20 000 new cases were recorded in just one single day. This definitely shows that the new second wave is more dangerous and deadly than the first wave.

With all this numbers skyrocketing so rapidly, many people are anticipating that level 4 lockdown is looming and will be introduced anytime soon.

However an insider told Sunday Times Daily, that the president will not be moving the country into a strict level 4 lockdown as many are anticipating; however there will be more strict and harsher restrictions implemented on the very same level 3 lockdown the country is

President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on Monday night, according to an insider in the national coronavirus command council and a hint from Gauteng premier David Makhura.

On Monday morning, Makhura dropped a hint that the much-awaited “family meeting” with the president would be held today.

Here is what the Insider said, about some of the restrictions president Cyril Ramaphosa will announce tonight. He said lockdown level 3 will be extended until February 15 and the curfew will be amended to between 9pm and 5am, from 9pm to 6am. Some of the land boarders will also be closed.

He is not sure if the famous Beitbridge will also be closed; as it has been deemed a hot spot due to the influx of people from Zimbabwe. A video doing the rounds on social media platforms, shows a large crowd of people sleeping in the middle of the road, waiting to cross over to South Africa

If sure the Insider is telling the truth about the extension of level 3 lockdown, it only means that alchohol lovers will have to endure another 4 more weeks of dry throats. The current level 3 lockdown was due to elapse this Friday on the 15th of January; and the extension will leave many thirty citizens very devastated.

President Raised Alarm as Goat and Pawpaw Test positive to covid-19 in Tanzania.

The President of TanzaniaJohn Pombe Magufuli has raised alarm by questioning the quality of imported test kits being used in the country, and has ordered that they should be checked and probed after goat and pawpaw fruit reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 in the country.

John Magufuli made this known while speaking at an event recently held at Chato, in the Northwest of Tanzania.

In his speech, he revealed that the imported covid-19 testing kits have “technical errors”.

According to him, he had instructed that non-human samples be randomly obtained from a pawpaw fruit, a sheep and a goat which were labeled fake human names and bio-data without the knowledge of the lab technicians.

Surprisingly, the President said he was amazed that the tests for the pawpaw fruit and goat came out positive.

Speaking further at the event, he revealed he has since ordered the Tanzanian health agency to subject the quality of the kits to clinical lab tests to help ascertain their effectiveness and reliability.

According to LIB, the president was quoted to have said;

“We extracted a sample from a goat which turned positive. This tells you that something is not adding up.

Are we now supposed to quarantine goats and fruits?” the President questioned.

President Donald Trump tried to convince a German scientist to make coronavirus vaccine available only for Americans

President Donald Trump has reportedly attempted to convince a German research firm working toward a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine to produce the life-saving treatment “only for the United States.”

on Sunday that German government sources said that the Trump administration was attempting to secure access to a potential vaccine under development by the firm CureVac. The news agency noted that the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag had previously reported that a German government source had said “Trump was trying to secure the [CureVac] scientists’ work exclusively, and would do anything to get a vaccine for the United States, ‘but only for the United States.'”

A White House source told Newsweek that the administration was not aware of the report or the underlying information. Newsweek has also reached out to the State Department for comment.

CureVac said in a Sunday statement that it “rejects current rumors of an acquisition.”

But a spokesperson for Germany’s economy minister suggested the government could block an effort from the U.S. to take control of the company. The spokesperson told Reuters that the German government’s foreign trade law allows for scrutinizing foreign takeover bids “if national or European security interests are at stake.”

A spokesperson for the German Health Ministry also told Reuters they could “confirm” the report by Welt am Sonntag.

Newsweek has reached out to the German Embassy in Washington, D.C. for further comment.

Christof Hettich, the chief executive of dievini Hopp Bio Tech Holding, CureVac’s top investor, said an exclusive deal with the U.S. was not on the table. “We want to develop a vaccine for the whole world and not individual countries,” he said, according toGerman broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW).

CureVac’s then-CEO Daniel Menichella attended a White House meeting with Trump and other administration officials about a possible vaccine earlier this month, DW reported. Menichella was replaced several days later as CEO by the company’s founder Ingmar Hoerr. CureVac did not give a reason for the change.

This is depraved. The German government confirms that Trump apparently tried to bribe German scientists into giving him exclusive rights to the Covid-19 vaccine they were working on developing. He wanted it “for the US only.” How many new lows

Some analysts were quick to criticize the president over the report.

“This is depraved. The German government confirms that Trump apparently tried to bribe German scientists into giving him exclusive rights to the Covid-19 vaccine they were working on developing,” Dr. Brian Klaas, a political scientist and lecturer at University College London tweeted. “He wanted it ‘or the US only.’ How many new lows will he set for the United States?”

Marcel Dirsus, a non-resident fellow at the Institute for Security Policy at Kiel University in Germany, also tweeted about the news, saying he was “struggling to think of a better way to make yourself unpopular with allies during a pandemic.”

Dirsus noted that “a lot of Germans are now going to talk about the need to ‘defend themselves’ against it

President Donald Trump Refused to be tested in coronavirus, ban all Europeans from entering America.

As several aides of US President Donald Trump self-quarantine, the White House has insisted that the president is in the all clear.

Several lawmakers in Trump’s inner circle have been in close proximity to someone with the deadly coronavirus, including his new chief of staff Mark Meadows.

What’s more, two of Trump’s aides have had direct contact with the president.

Trump, who flew back to Washington after a weekend golfing at his Florida resort and having dinner with Brazil’s right-wing president, has spent weeks dismissing the seriousness of the threat.

But a dramatic run on stock market prices on Monday robbed him of one of his main talking points when touting his successes ahead of the November presidential election. The Dow Jones closed 7.8% lower in the worst session since 2008.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has announced sweeping new travel restrictions on Europe in a bid to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

In a televised address, he said travel from 26 European countries would be suspended for the next 30 days.

But he said the “strong but necessary” restrictions would not apply to the UK, where 460 cases of the virus have now been confirmed.

There are 1,135 confirmed cases of the virus across the US, with 38 deaths.

“To keep new cases from entering our shores, we will be suspending all travel from Europe,” Mr Trump said from the Oval Office on Wednesday evening.

“The new rules will go into effect Friday at midnight,” he added. The travel order does not apply to US citizens.

Mr Trump said the European Union had “failed to take the same precautions” as the US in fighting the virus.

A Presidential Proclamation, published shortly after Mr Trump’s speech, specified that the ban applies to anyone who has been in the EU’s Schengen border-free area within 14 days prior to their arrival in the US.

This implies that Ireland is excluded from the ban as it is not one of the 26 Schengen countries. Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania are also EU members without being part of the Schengen area.

Mr Trump spoke just hours after Italy – the worst affected country outside China – announced tough new restrictions on its citizens. It will close all shops except food stores and pharmacies as part of its nationwide lockdown.

He said the travel suspension would also “apply to the tremendous amount of trade and cargo” coming from Europe into the US. But he later tweeted to say that “trade will in no way be affected” by the new measures.
