The Wife of the President, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has advised the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider only its card-carrying members for political appointments.
She made the call at a dinner to celebrate the victory of her husband in Daura, the country-home of the president in Katsina state.
Held at the Daura Stadium, the event attracted women and youth supporters of the APC from across the state.
The president’s wife, in a statement by her media aide, Suleiman Haruna, noted that the constitution of the party specifies that appointments to offices in an APC-led government should go to card-carrying members.
She therefore advised that the party constitution should be respected.
She expressed appreciation over the support that the party enjoyed in the last Presidential election, especially from women and youth and assured them that government will do more to improve their lives.
“I wish to thank the women and youth of this country for the number of votes they gave President Buhari in the 2019 election and to assure that he will continue to do his best to make Nigeria a better country,” she said.
Also speaking at the event, Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika praised the electorate for voting President Buhari. He assured them that the second tenure of the president will bring in development in all spheres of endeavour.
He commended Mrs. Buhari for her initiative of engaging women and youth during the presidential campaign, which resulted in the massive votes recorded.
The Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has condemned the deportation of over 700 Nigerians by the Ghana government within a year with allegation of not having genuine documents, describing it as scornful and extremely ridiculous.
The association’s president, Olalekan Hammed in a statement on Wednesday said it was a xenophobic attack in another dimension by the Ghana government.
It said it was sad when there were thousands of Ghanaians making billions of naira in Nigeria without having required papers.
It charged the Nigeria Immigration Service need to be thorough on immigrants by ensuring that all foreigners possess all necessary document or be deported.
According to the youths, ‘’it is no more business as usual. Any company owned by foreigners that failed to pay its tax as and when due should be sanctioned without further delay.
“The federal government of Nigeria should mandate all the neighbouring countries that are sharing power generation with Nigeria to pay outstanding fees immediately.
“We must be strict with our laws and policies for us to command respect”, they said.
