Cattle Allegedly Destroyed Rice farm land worth N17M in Enugu.

Briefing newsmen on the massive destruction of the rich farmland in Enugu on Wednesday, Mr Ekene Uzodinma, the Manager of Excellent Integrated Farms Ltd., said that herds of cattle had eaten up over eight hectares of farmland that the company cultivated.

Uzodinma lamented that the herds also devoured some heaps of unprocessed paddy rice kept in the farmland, which was waiting to be sent to the milling machine.

“From the market value of local rice now, the eight hectares should produce at least 80 tonnes of rice as a finished product and it is nothing less than N17 million in evaluation,’’ he said.

“Presently, my workers, other farms and villagers are afraid to go to the farms again due to the unrelenting activities of the herds; while the herdsmen are threatening to brutally deal with anybody stopping their cattle from grazing.

“Initially, we tried our best to wade them off, especially during the rainy season and the swampy nature of the rice farm also kept the herdsmen and their herds away.

“However, when we started harvesting and the dry season rolled in; in early December, we were constantly chasing them away until Dec. 15; when they started coming into the rice farmland during the late evening and night hours.

“On that fateful, I was summoned to the farm by my workers at about 7 p.m., when they were overwhelmed in chasing hundreds of cattle away and before the next morning they had eaten up and totally devoured and devastated the whole rice farm,’’ he said.

Uzodinma said that he had written twice to the state governor, police commissioner, other security agencies and Farmers/Herders Peace Committee for about a month now but there was no response and no phone call from these quarters.

“It is only the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps that came to the scene of the devastating and anger-provoking farm to ask some questions, took some notes and pictures,’’ he said.

He, however, said that he was exploiting diplomatic means to seek redress and get the authorities to intervene, especially as the company planned to cultivate 200 hectares of farmland in the state this year by involving no fewer than 100 youths in agriculture.

“It is shocking that we do not have political authorities and law enforcement agencies that really care about the people as activities of these herdsmen and their cattle have made many villagers not to go to farm any longer.

“Why should herds of cattle graze at night. Why should a large number of herds be controlled by underage youth?

“What is the fate of farming and the government’s plan to return youths and people to the farm in the state and boost the state economy through farming.

“What is the fate of various Federal Government farming intervention programmes as the farms are no longer safe for our people,’’ he queried.

Ciara speaks why she broke up with future

Ciara and Future got in engaged in October of 2013 and welcomed a baby boy several months later. By the end of 2014, they had broken up.

Ciara spoke on what made her decide to pull the plug on the relationship during her appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk show.

“It was the combination of everything, because none of it was ideal,” she said. “I grew up with my mom and my dad being together, the idea of it being mommy and daddy that made baby. And then all of a sudden you’re living your life in front of the world, it’s a whole other layer. The one thing I fear in life is wasting my life, wasting my time, I really fear that because you realize that time does not stop and it will be the worst scenario to stay in a situation that’s just not healthy, not going to get any better. I realized I have to start making different decisions, period. Knowing what you don’t want is really important. It creates clarity.

I don’t like crying all the time, I don’t like being sad,” she continued. “So I’m like how do I get out of this, because I like people happy.”

English premier league club funded with £3m loan by osama bin laden family,court hears

Osama Bin Laden

Newly promoted Premier League side Sheffield United has been funded by a £3 million loan from the family of Osama bin Laden, a court was told on Thursday, according to Daily Mail.

The Blades are in court as their club is embroiled in a power struggle between co-owners Kevin McCabe and Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

But on Thursday, the fourth day of the hearing, it was revealed that a £3m loan received by the club, named ‘Project Delta’, can be traced back to the family for of the former Al Qaeda figurehead.

Barrister Andreas Gledhill QC, who is leading Abdullah’s legal team, alleges that McCabe knew who the money came from.

The Sheffield Star report that Mr Gledhill said Mr McCabe ‘knew the money had come from another source, namely a member of the Bin Laden family’.

Emails from Jeremy Tutton, a colleague of Mr McCabe’s at a property business who was added to the Sheffield United board of directors in 2017, were disclosed in court, one of which said he feared the local newspaper would run a story with the headline: ‘Blades launder money for extremists’.

Mr McCabe quickly quashed the content of the email, claiming it to be ‘banter’, but Mr Gledhill contested that it confirms he knew the origin of the money.

Mr McCabe, 71, and Prince Abdullah, 54, each have a 50 per cent stake in the the Bramall Lane club, who secured promotion to the Premier League for next season.

The pair met in 2013 when Mr McCabe was seeking new investors and agreed to work together, on the proviso Prince Abdullah pumped £10m into the club, but reportedly fell out in 2017.

Mr McCabe’s company, Sheffield United Ltd, allege ‘conspiracy’ and ‘unfairly prejudicial conduct’ while Prince Abdullah’s company, UTB LLC, wants declarations in respect of its rights under an investment and shareholders’ agreement.

The trial will continue over the next few weeks.

Osama bin Laden was disowned by his family in 1994 and killed in Pakistan in 2011 by US Navy SEALs.

Sheffield United will be a Premier League team next season after earning promotion from Championship.

The “late” response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to a memo from the Nigerian Consul-General, Amb. M. S. Yunusa, is believed to have contributed to the execution of a Nigerian woman, Kudirat Adeshola Afolabi about two weeks ago.

King Salman of Saudi Arabia arrived in France for a Riviera holiday, with the closure of the beach in front of his villa incensing local residents. While the king's three-week visit with an entourage of nearly 1,000 is a boon for the local economy, the closure of a public beach for the privacy and security of the royal party -- along with illegal construction work -- has sparked anger. According to a report by The Nation, the Consul-General wrote twice to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Geoffrey Onyeama, on December 3, 2018 and February 6, 2019, raising the alarm over the plight of Nigerians in Saudi Arabia.

He said the nation should endeavour to use its diplomatic bond with Saudi Arabia to seek pardon for all our compatriots condemned to death and for those serving various jail terms.

But more worrisome to the Consul-General is what he believe is the security lapse at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, which is being used for massive drug trafficking.

The envoy admitted that there is a drug syndicate at the airport.

He alleged that the syndicate in cahoots with greedy airline officials at MAKIA were checking in extra bags containing prohibited drugs.

He said members of the syndicate had been using particulars of innocent passengers and baggage tags to smuggle drugs leading to the arrest of Nigerians who had no links with drug trafficking.

One of the memos said: “Furthermore, it is with humility that I bring to the Honourable Minister‘s knowledge that, sadly, there are a number of Nigerians arrested for alleged drug related offence who are currently in detention at Dhahban Prison (Male Section) and Madina Prison (Male & Female Sections). Mission was unable to gain Consular access to them as the host authorities have flatly refused to grant permission for such despite several requests to that effect.

“Following the outcome of investigations carried out by both the NDLEA and the Nigeria Police (Kano State Command) the Honourable Minister may wish to note that:

There exists a criminal syndicate collaborating with greedy officials of some airlines at MAKIA, notably Ethiopian and Egyptian Airlines, who connive to check in drug-laden bags, using passenger’s particulars without their consent or knowledge;

“Nigerian victims of the activities of these criminal gangs were arrested and detained in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for drug trafficking offences they did not commit;

“The outcome of investigations by the Nigeria Police and NDLEA absolved these victims of complicity in the crime of peddling drugs into the Kingdom. The investigations further established beyond reasonable doubts that the victims were unaware of the drug-laden baggage that were checked in bearing their particulars by unknown persons at MAKIA, Kano;

“All the suspected culprits had been apprehended and a case of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and drug trafficking has been established against them, hence, they were arraigned at the Federal High Court, Kano;

“There are 24 Nigerians who were condemned to death between 2016 2018 for drug trafficking in contravention of the Kingdom’s Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Control Law issued under Decree No. M/39 dated 8/7/1428AH;

“There are 12 Nigerian women currently serving various jail terms at Dhahban prison for drug smuggling.

“Meanwhile, the following drug traffickers are serving various jail terms:
