South African Police Service (SAPS) from Bloemfontein found drugs that worth R2.46 million in a bus that was travelling to Pretoria and Plettenberg Bay.
According to cops spokesperson Lieutenant Col Thabo Covane Kobane they were informed of a bus that was transporting the drugs.
Kobane said five travelling bags were found hidden amongst the luggage, which roused their suspicion.
“Five big travelling bags that could not be accounted for were found. The staff member became suspicious as the bags were not tagged,” Kobane said.
The bags had mandrax tablets with a total weight 177, 23 kilograms with an estimated street value of R 2 460 000.
The police seized the drugs and no suspect has been arrested yet. An investigation has been launched to establish the origin and destination of drugs.
