JUST IN! Army buries Boko Haram slain soldiers
The Nigerian army has buried 19 of the soldiers who lost their lives in an attack by Boko Haram insurgents at Metele, Guzamala local government area of Borno state.
While there were reports that over 100 soldiers were killed, the army pegged the casualty figure 23. The tragic incident took place on November 18.
The soldiers were laid to rest at the military cemetery, Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri on Friday.

The ceremony was attended by senior military officers, government officials, representatives of the Shehu of Borno, family members of the deceased and it was officiated by Muslim and Christian clerics.

The chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, described the incident as tragic, noting that the soldiers sacrificed their lives in defence of the nation’s territorial integrity.
